I went to see Michael in 'A Perfect Future' last year and 'The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity' the year before. What can I say, Chad Deity was my first time seeing Michael live, his stage presence is fantastic, he doesn't really need a microphone his voice carries so well. The play won the award for Best New Play at the Lortel Awards earlier this year.
Unfortunately Perfect Future wasn't so lucky, Molly and I thought the play was very good but four out of five New York critics that saw the play gave it really bad reviews and it closed after only three weeks, I have some doubts that at least three of the said critics didn't even go to see it but just copied what the first guy said about it. Michael was very good in it and so were the rest of the cast, he took his part very seriously and I would have gone to see it again had I been in NY long enough, as it was Molly and I only went for the weekend so we didn't get the chance. We did however get the chance to meet Michael afterwards and that warmed up a very very cold night in NYC you can bet your life.
My one fear now is that Michael will decide to concentrate on his stage career and not appear much on tv or in a movie. We get to see so little of him these days that it would be a great shame if he did that.
There is a list of the plays he has done on here so you can see everything at a glance, I am sure Karen can tell you about some of them as I know she has seen Michael on stage a few times.
All I can say is that I am looking forward to the next time I will be able to fly over and see him again.
