The world premiere of Michael Jacobs' Impressionism, previously announced to open on March 12, will now open at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 24.
A press statement said that the director Jack O'Brien and his cast and creative team needs more time to work on the play, which was not workshopped or tried out of town. The production is currently in previews, and the performance schedule will remain the same, with the exception of the Monday, March 9 performance, which has been cancelled.
The play is the story of a world traveling photojournalist and a New York gallery owner who discover each other and also that there might be an art to repairing broken lives. It stars Tony Award winners Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen and also features Marsha Mason, André De Shields, Michael T. Weiss, Aaron Lazar, Margarita Levieva, and Hadley Delany.
The creative team includes Scott Pask (scenic design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Elaine McCarthy (projection design) Leon Rothenberg (sound design), and Bob James (original music).
